HIIT or Mrs: Here's How To Get Your Dream Wedding Body

All future brides (and grooms) want to look and feel his or her personal best before they walk down the aisle and say “I do”.

Yes, we want to practice self-care and go easy on ourselves as we gear up for the big day, but we also want a fitness routine that kinda kicks our asses and works. We want to get toned and feel totally strong and confident in that wedding dress (or suit). And I know from previous experience that there’s little to no time to waste when gearing up for your wedding.

Which is why HIIT (high-intensity interval training) combined with Pilates is such an effective combination for those who want to sculpt, tone, release stress, gain confidence, and of course, have fun - in the shortest amount of time.

High-intensity interval training helps you burn fat, boost metabolism (for hours after working out), and amp up your energy, which is of course needed when running around trying to check a million things off your pre-wedding ‘to do’ list.

A recent study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research found that HIIT burns a whopping 44% more calories than doing moderate-intensity cardio for the same amount of time. And you continue to burn calories after your HIIT workout because your body has to work that much harder to return to its pre-workout state. So it’s certainly a win-win if you’re looking for the most effective way to shed pounds on the final countdown to the big day - as long as you listen to your body and not overdo it and hydrate.

Pilates tightens and tones your core, alleviates stress on your back, releases tension, increases flexibility, and improves posture so you can walk down the aisle with grace and confidence. Another important thing to remember is that with all that HIIT and running around quickly burning calories, sometimes we need a simple reminder to BREATHE and reboot. The Pilates movements not only strengthen and tighten your core region, but the workout also serves as a reminder to pause (which can be more effective in the long run since you’re not running yourself down).

Here is a quick video example of how I mix HIIT and Pilates in my private and group classes (sessions can be customized to amp up or pare down the HIIT element, depending on the client’s needs):

I also offer a 30-minute complimentary phone consultation, so shoot me a note if you’d like to hear more! We can figure out the perfect HIIT Pilates combo for you.
